NaNoWriMo
I signed up for NaNoWriMo today. I must be crazy. For those of you who don't know, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. It's November 1 - 30. The purpose of NaNoWriMo is to encourage writers to set goals and work toward them. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Whoa. Deep breath. That's a lot of words. This is my first year to participate, although I've known about NaNo for a few years. I just keep forgetting to sign up. Today, while I was online, someone on Twitter tweeted about NaNo, reminding me that the time was quickly approaching for this year. So, I headed over to the site and signed up.
I have no idea what I'm going to write about. Well, yes, I do. Sort of. While we were fixing dinner tonight I told my husband that I thought I'd write a ghost story. I came up with a title for it while we were eating. So, I guess I'm on my way.
So far, this blog post is only 182 words. Hmmm. I don't know if I can write 50,000.

Social Networking
I posted a question here about social networking sites. I'm curious as to which sites you use and which ones work best for you. I have various blogs on different subjects. Some of them I can use social networking on, some I can't. I've found that Twitter and Entrecard work best for me. I have accounts at StumbleUpon, SpicyPage and Gather, but rarely use them anymore because they've just never generated any traffic for me. Do you have any tips or tricks ~ sites you like, don't like?

The Case of the Wandering Cats
Yesterday, my hubby and I had to get out of the house. We were going stir crazy. He needed cigarettes, so we headed to Laughlin, because cigarettes are cheaper in Nevada than they are in Arizona. Laughlin is about 30 minutes away. While we were in that area, we decided to do a little shopping in Bullhead City. We were gone maybe 3 hours. We got home and he went to feed the cats. Usually, when we walk in the door, if it's anywhere near feeding time, the cats are waiting for us. We walked in the door, no cats. He opened a can of their food, no cats. We hollered for them, no cats.
Well shoot.
I head to the bedroom because nine times out of ten, they're usually under the bed or in the closet. I flip on the light and I see an indoor cat owner's worst nightmare - an open door to the backyard. We have a sliding glass door off of the master bedroom to the backyard. We'd left the door open with the screen closed like we've done a million times before. Only this time I guess we forgot to lock the screen.
One of the two cats, or maybe both, evidently worked a tiny paw into the space between the screen and the jamb, and managed to get the door open just enough for two nimble cat bodies.
I see the open door and I panic. We just moved here a couple of months ago so they're not too familiar with the territory. And they are indoor cats. They're both declawed, so they're not equipped to be roaming in the desert. Plus, it's starting to get dark.
Hubby gets on his bike and starts prowling the blocks surrounding us. I frantically start calling for the two nitwits. Buddy (hereby known as the good cat) immediately appears from behind our garbage can. I grab him up and toss him inside before I go back to look for Max (hereby known as the bad cat). Hubby and I spend 3 hours looking for Max...we walked, we drove up and down the streets, he rode his bike, I called and called. Nothing. At least there were no cat carcasses on any of the roads we went down, so that was a good thing.
Since it was dark and we'd searched everywhere we could think of, we gave up and hoped the bad cat would find his way home. We finally went to bed, and as we were lying there talking, we heard crunching along the rocks in the backyard (we live in the desert so we don't have any grass). Then we hear this little 'mew'. Hubby got out of bed and flipped on the light, and there was bad cat on the patio.
Bad cat got a huge lecture, from me, and from good cat. I don't think he'll be going off on any adventures any time soon.
